EO100™ Renewable Energy Certification Now Recognized Under the I-REC Standard

We’re proud to share a meaningful step forward in advancing responsible renewable energy development: Equitable Origin’s EO100™ Renewable Energy Project Standards are now a recognized label under the International Tracking Standard Foundation’s International Renewable Energy Credit (I-REC) system. This recognition makes our high environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards available to project developers and energy buyers in over 60 countries.

This milestone extends the reach of our certification framework to a broader global audience through the Evident Registry, the official platform for I-REC(E)s. The Evident Registry provides a fully auditable chain of custody, enabling transparent, credible, and uniquely verifiable claims of ownership by end-users. These features are critical in strengthening trust in environmental claims and ensuring traceability across the global renewable energy market.

I-RECs are the cornerstone of the voluntary global clean energy market. They are the most widely adopted renewable energy certificate standard across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. I-RECs are accepted under major international sustainability frameworks, including the GHG Protocol Scope 2 guidance, CDP, and RE100, and other voluntary initiatives.

With EO100™ certification now integrated into this system, renewable energy procurement can support projects that verifiably meet leading environmental, social, and Indigenous rights performance standards. Our standards apply across the entire lifecycle of a renewable energy facility, from approval and construction through operations to eventual decommissioning. Detailed information is available in our EO100™ Technical Supplement: Solar and EO100™ Technical Supplement: Wind.

Once certification is achieved for a facility, energy producers can select the EO100™ label directly within the Evident Registry’s labeling scheme drop-down menu. This designation will then appear on all redemption certificates issued for that facility, providing an added layer of assurance to buyers committed to responsible sourcing.

As Jos Tuinenburg, Senior Compliance Manager at the I-TRACK Foundation, noted:

“We are pleased to have Equitable Origin’s Product Facility Label and the additional environmental and social performance information this provides to end-users about the generation from an I-REC(E) Production Facility.”

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to stronger environmental and social performance within global clean energy markets and to support a more equitable energy transition for all.
