Strengthening Regulatory Oversight in Colombia

Location: Bogotá, Colombia
Service Provided: Assurance Evaluation and Benchmarking
Project summary: As Colombia’s national regulatory body for oil and gas development, ANH depends on clear and accurate assessments of social and environmental performance by development projects to gauge regulatory compliance. EO assurance experts are evaluating ANH assurance processes and practices and will make recommendations for improvements to streamline oversight and improve social and environmental performance nationwide.


Gap Analysis of Esperanza Natural Gas Field

Project Partner: Canacol Energy Ltd
Dates: May 2014 – July 2014
Location: Bogotá, Colombia
Service Provided: EO100™ Gap Analysis
Project summary: EO performed an EO100™ Gap Analysis of the “La Esperanza” site, an onshore natural gas production operation near the Caribbean coast of Colombia. Following the Gap Analysis, EO made specific recommendations to site operator Canacol on how to implement improvements and strengthen alignment with the EO100™ Standard as the company moves toward Equitable Origin certification of the site. The project included interviews with high- and mid-level executives, analysis of management procedures, and a visit to the production site to engage with local stakeholders and workers.


Executive Level Gap Analysis of Oil and Gas Operations

Service Provided: EO100™ Gap Analysis
Project summary: EO performed an executive EO100™ Gap Analysis for Equion to identify general opportunities for improvement in sustainability management. The analysis applied to Equion’s company-wide social and environmental practices and offered insight on how to improve them according to the guidelines of the EO100™ Standard.


Initial Assessment of Policies and Practices

Project Partner: Hunt Oil Company
Dates: May 2014 – June 2014
Location: Bogotá, Colombia
Service Provided: EO100™ Gap Analysis
Project summary: EO assessed Hunt Oil’s social and environmental policies and practices with an EO100™ Gap Analysis and offered recommendations for improvement.


Community Relations Assessment

Project Partner: Petroamazonas
Dates: December 2014 – June 2015
Location: Ecuadorian Amazon
Service Provided: Community Engagement
Project summary: EO performed stakeholder mapping of indigenous and other local communities surrounding Petroamazonas oil production operations in the Amazon region of Ecuador. EO engaged with selected communities and collected information on their concerns and priorities regarding social and environmental impacts of the operations. EO shared its findings with Petroamazonas to inform the improvement of community engagement and social practices in the region.
