This document, developed by Transparency International, provides detailed information on how to counteract bribery and other forms of corruption. It has been adopted by a number of large companies in the extractive industries.

Transparency International – The Anti-Corruption Plain Language Guide (2009)
This guide offers a set of standardized, easy-to-understand definitions of corruption-related terminology. It also provides useful links for further background information or research.

Technical Guide to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (2009)
This guide highlights policy issues, institutional aspects and operational frameworks related to the full and effective implementation of the provisions of the UN Convention against Corruption.

The United Nations Global Compact: Principle 10 on Anti-Corruption (2004)
The UN Global Compact is a voluntary initiative for businesses committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. The Global Compact provides a practical framework for the development, implementation and disclosure of sustainability policies and practices, including a range of tools and guidance on how companies can effectively counteract corruption.

OECD Risk Awareness Tool for Multinational Enterprises in Weak Governance Zones (2006)
This OECD document aims to help companies that invest or operate in countries where governments are unwilling or unable to assume their responsibilities. It embraces a range of questions addressing risks and ethical dilemmas that companies are likely to face in weak governance zones, including questions aimed at ensuring that enterprises obey the law and respect international instruments.

International Finance Corporation Global Governance Forum – Toolkit 2: Developing Corporate Governance Codes of Best Practice
This publication outlines the importance and usefulness of corporate governance, as well as the process for developing a corporate governance code. Although primarily aimed at those developing Governance Codes at the country level, it also provides useful insights and practical guidance for private businesses.

OECD Principles of Corporate Governance (2004)
These Principles were developed in conjunction with national governments, other relevant international organizations and the private sector as a set of corporate governance standards and guidelines. They have since formed the basis for corporate governance initiatives in both OECD and non-OECD countries alike.

Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics
The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) is dedicated to improving the quality of corporate governance, compliance and ethics. SCCE’s roles include facilitating the development and maintenance of compliance programs, providing a forum for understanding the complicated compliance environment, and offering tools, resources and educational opportunities for those involved with compliance.

The global oil and gas industry association for environmental and social issues (IPIECA)
Provides an industry-specific framework for use by oil and gas companies reporting on environmental, health and safety, and social and economic performance.

Corporate Human Rights Reporting: An Analysis of Current Trends
This analysis, commissioned by the UN Global Compact, the Global Reporting Initiative and Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative, examines trends in human rights reporting and provides ideas and examples of how businesses might improve their reporting practices.
